Humane technology

Giving people their attention back, so they can learn, work and live better.

We take the mechanics we know keep people coming back, the swipe, the variable reward, the streak, and redesign them with psychologists and learning scientists. So every app leaves you better than it found you.

Same engine. Better destination.

Habit mechanics are neutral: they power a feed that drains you just as well as one that teaches you. What decides whether an app helps or harms is where it takes your attention, and whether it ends.

Swipe
Every swipe brings an idea verified by a specialist.
Variable reward
The surprise is which idea comes next. The reward is remembering it.
Streaks
Flexible: skipping a day doesn't erase your progress.
An end
Every session ends, and we tell you. We design for you to leave well.

Manifesto

They told us attention was the new oil, and they drilled for it. Swipe after swipe, we were left with less: less focus, less calm, less time for what matters.

The problem was never the swipe. It was the destination.

  • We use the same engine, but every piece is verified, every quiz makes you remember and every session has an end.
  • We believe productivity isn't looking busy, but doing what matters with energy and leaving room for joy.
  • We believe skipping a day doesn't erase your progress.
  • We believe rest is progress too.

Same engine. Better destination.

One engine, four destinations.

One ecosystem: what you learn in one becomes a habit in another.

First product

BlumByte Feed

A swipe feed of ideas verified by specialists, quizzes that make you remember and sessions that end.

  • Every piece, signed by whoever reviewed it.
  • A recall question every 5 to 7 pieces.
  • A close that tells you when to stop.

  • Later

    BlumByte for Teams

Microlearning for teams with split attention: what they learn, they bring into their day.

  • Later

    BlumByte Learn

    Personalized education for schools.

Science first.

If the evidence or a specialist doesn't back it, it doesn't ship. Here is what we know, and what we do with it.

What we know

  • 200+ comparisons agree: answering a question about what you learned makes it stick better than rereading it.

So Feed asks you about what you already saw.

    Adesope, Trevisan & Sundararajan, 2017 · mean effect g ≈ 0.61
  • 66 days is the median for a habit to become automatic, and missing one day didn't change the process.

So our streaks don't reset to zero.

    Lally et al., 2010
  • 47 s is how long attention lasts on a screen, on average, before it jumps to something else.

So everything we make has an end and protects your focus.

    Gloria Mark, UC Irvine
  • One plan with a when, where and what is enough for an unfinished goal to stop interfering with everything else.

So Flow turns every open loop into a next step.

    Masicampo & Baumeister, 2011

What we don't know yet

There is no evidence that a short-video feed improves attention. The largest synthesis to date links its use with worse attention and inhibitory control (Nguyen et al., 2025, 71 studies). It is correlation, not causation, but the burden of proof is ours.

So Feed has an end, and we measure what you remember, not how long you stay.

How we'll prove it

  • A scientific advisory board with public names.
  • A published editorial standard: one idea, one source, one action.
  • Metrics for what you remember and apply, not minutes on screen.
  • A pilot study with a university.

What guides us.

What BlumByte is not

  • A social network or an open platform for uploading content.
  • Therapy, or a substitute for a mental health professional.
  • Empty entertainment dressed up as learning.
  • An app that optimizes your screen time.
  • Guru motivation without evidence.
  • For now, a product for minors.
